White After Labor Day?

Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894, and that is when society adopted that very day as the end of summer. The old adage is that one is not supposed to wear white after Labor Day as white is considered a summer color. Originally the unwritten rule only applied to wearing white dress shoes such as sandals and pumps, but has since been expanded to include wearing white pants and dresses as well.

The old wives tale may be true for clothing (wedding dresses excluded), but it is definitely not true for bedding!  White bedding will never go out of style and will always match any color decor!
Sarah Jessica Parker's bedroom is a prime example of this.

Here are a couple of my favorite white bedding ensembles:

L'erba Sanctuary Solid White Quilt

I love this reversible white quilt! Shown above, this quilt looks elegant with sage green pillows and a throw accent, but would instantly look hip with some hot pink and black decorations.

Another way to spruce up existing bedding is by adding white throw pillows.

Adding this pleated Steve Madden Camille Decorative Breakfast Pillow would bring life to any bedding ensemble no matter what color or print it may be!

I hope you all had a relaxing, safe Labor Day!
