With a little planning and forethought, anyone can transform their windows into pleasing designs.
1. Start with size. Windows are measured both by width and length, with width noted first. For example, represent a window that's 48 inches wide and 64 inches long by writing 48" x 64".
2. Use the proper tools. When you're ready to determine the dimensions, go heavy-duty and grab the steel tape measure, which won't stretch like lighter cloth tapes. Even an inch difference can prove crucial.
3. Know your hardware. Choose your curtain rods and know which type of curtain you're planning to buy and how they attach to the rod.
