Vera Wang Hits The Sheets

Vera  Wang is a well-known fashion designer that opened her own salon in the Carlyle Hotel in New York City in 1990 after working as the senior fashion editor for Vogue  for seventeen years. She is most notorious for designing bridal gowns and has made wedding dresses for many celebrities including Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Sharon Stone, Hilary Duff, Kate Hudson, Chelsea Clinton and Kim Kardashian, among others. She has even designed wedding dresses for big screen movies, including the dress Sarah Jessica Parker wore as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City and the dress Anne Hathaway wore in Bride Wars.

Prior to Wang’s fashion career, she was a figure skater competing in the 1968 U.S. Figure Skating Championship where she unfortunately failed to make the US Olympics team.  Wang designed costumes for figure skaters and was eventually inducted into the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2009. Popular figure skater Nancy Kerrigan wore a Vera Wang original in the 1994 Olympics competition.

Wang has since expanded her brand name from women’s special occasion fashions to include fragrance, eyewear, jewelry, shoes, crystal and china.  And lucky for us, Vera Wang entered the home fashion industry in 2002. And here are my favorite Vera Wang bedding ensembles:

I’m going to end today’s post with an inspirational quote by Vera Wang herself, “Don’t be afraid to take time to learn. It’s good to work for other people. I worked for others for 20 years. They paid me to learn.”

Have a good week!
