I don't know about you but I usually don't like when TV shows get made over again years later. Lately, there have been old shows from the '70s and '80s that got turned into pretty bad movies. But sometimes an old show gets another shot, like the backstabbing drama Dallas!
The neat thing about TNT's new Dallas is that it actually continues the story from 20 years ago. Larry Hagman as J.R. is back along with Patrick Duffy as his brother and rival Bobby. Even Linda Gray is back as as J.R.'s ex-wife Sue Ellen.
This time around, though, we get to see a new rivalry take place as J.R. and Bobby's kids introduce us to the next generation of Ewings. You just know there's going to be some major backstabbing between those cousins since the family fortune is pretty much in their hands. There's loads of money, oil and the familiar Southfork Ranch that fans of the old Dallas should be very familiar with.
But new fans should like the show too. It fits right in with most family dramas today. Or even most reality shows today. Every time I turn on the TV lately it seems that someone is lying about something. Or cheating on someone. Or lying and cheating on someone! LOL.
I just wonder if the new Dallas series will go for any similar crazy cliffhangers like the old one did. There was the whole "Who shot J.R.?" campaign where you didn't know what was happening or even if Larry Hagman would be back on the show. And then they killed off Bobby, only to have him return the next season in the shower, claiming the entire previous season was just a dream! I definitely hope they don't try pulling that one on fans again.
I had a thought though. If Dallas becomes a big hit, do you think other popular shows from the past will get a comeback too? Like Happy Days? Or Dynasty? Or even The Love Boat? It'd be really funny to see how they try updating some of those shows.
Since Texas is known as the Lone Star State, I thought I'd find a fun bedding set that could get you in a Dallas mood!
This Tommy Hilfiger All American Navy set is perfect with its red, white and blue colors and all the stars! Isn't it just adorable?
Don't forget to watch Dallas on TNT Wednesdays at 9.
Have a great rest of the week!
